Introduction
If parents separate or divorce you must split the joint contact record so that each parent has their own record with their own data and contact details on. You must check with your finance team before doing this as there may be an impact on the billing information.
Separate a joint contact record
- Go to Pupils > [Relevant Pupil Stage}.
- Find the required pupil.
- Go to the Contacts tab on the pupil record.
- Untick the Joint Contact tick box.
- Edit the Title field to reflect the individual contact.
- Edit the Relationship field to reflect the individual contact's relationship to the pupil.
- Make a note of contact 2's details as they will be added to a new contact record.
- Remove contact 2's firstname, surname, telephone number, email address and any other information.
- Select Save.
- The record now contains contact 1's details only.
Select Add Contact to Pupil.

- The Contact Information window opens.
- Select Add New and complete the Contact Details section at the bottom of the screen.
- Select Save.
- Select the contact by ticking the Select field.
- Select Add Contact(s) to Pupil.
- The contact is added to the pupil record.
On the Contacts tab select the Relationship of the contact to the pupil.

- Select Save.
